A Great Loss for the Home Helpers' Family

John SquiresIt is with great sadness that we inform you that our friend and colleague, John Squires, passed away Saturday, November 26th after a long illness. John, along with his partner Tom Carroll, was the owner of the Home Helpers & Direct Link office in Media, Pennsylvania and was extremely proud that his office was named the “Best of Delco” for two years in a row. He was a fervent supporter of the Home Helpers franchise system and participated selflessly to help enhance the system. He was a founding member of the Philadelphia Marketing Coop and served as president for several years; participated in the Shining Stars Group; volunteered on multiple project teams, including the recent limited medical project and was a founding member of the Home Helpers Peer Group. He was a mentor to many new owners and a friend to still many more. Our thoughts and prayers are with John’s family, his wife Janet and daughter Ann and his office staff and many friends. He will be deeply missed, however we know his legacy will live on.

John was a wonderful mentor to new franchisees. He always took time to help and educate those of us who needed help. I knew him very briefly but admired and liked him very much. It grieves me that he is gone. I pray for his wife, daughter and all of us who will miss him.

John was a role model, mentor and tremendous leader not only for his employees, but also for his fellow franchisees. His passion for the industry and his clients was evident in how he conducted himself each and every day. His impact on the community was felt by the thousands of client he served over the many years he operated his Home Helpers office. The diagnosis was a shock to us all this year and John’s battle was nothing short of heroic. John’s passing is so difficult to accept, and his presence will be sorely missed. My condolences go out to his wife, daughter, business partner and staff. May the many great memories of John bring you peace over time and the motivation to carry on his legacy.

From the moment I met John his dynamic, charismatic, and unique personality was evident. As a new Home Helpers Franchisee, he gave me the courage to start my own business, he always gave me the gift of his astute words of wisdom. He invited my partner and me to join the Philadelphia Marketing Coop, as a the first NJ participants, valuing our opinions and knowledge! An ever determined man; a heart filled with joy and caring; a brain filled with ideas, innovation, and enthusiasm. His smile lit up a room, and I will remember it daily as inspiration.

John was a genuine person and I feel lucky to have known him in the time I've been at Home Helpers. He was a great man to have as a boss. I remember him calling me to personally thank me for taking care of clients during a snowstorm. John truly cared about the people we cared for. He will be missed by many. My heartfelt condolences to his wife, Janet and his daughter, Ann.

I was in John's company once at the Home Helper's Christmas party as the spouse of an employee. I remember speaking with him for quite a while. He made me feel very welcome as if I was one of the family. He was such a wonderful man with a great sense of humor and the ability to make everyone feel as if they were important to him.
